Eighth Grade Computer Resource Time

All eighth grade students will attend a once-a-week computer class facilitated by a computer teacher in order to complete technology-based assignments from core curricular classes. All eighth grade teachers will make numerous assignments based on a yearlong schedule coordinated by the computer teacher to assure timely completion of projects. Students will use the programming application Scratch; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Windows MovieMaker; ComicLife; and Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks in various projects throughout the year. Additional available time will be used to teach new software applications and allow students to continue to develop their typing skills. Students will also review the school’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy and the consequences for inappropriate use of computers. Students will have computer class once each week for the entire year.
