Vocal Technique and Musicianship

This trimester elective course is designed to polish vocal and musical skills. The emphasis is on individualized instruction with the goal of encouraging the mastery of skills necessary to become a highly competent vocalist. The course will include making a video portfolio to track students’ progress and to provide points of reference. More specifically, the class addresses basic music skills of pitch recognition, accuracy in performance, posture, breath management, vowel shapes, resonance, articulation, rhythm mastery, sight singing, expression, musicality, phrasing, and independence. The maximum size of this class is six students.

Prerequisite: permission of the instructor.
