Visual Arts students create portraits for children in Sierra Leone

Students in Studio I/II 2-D art earned community service hours this trimester by creating portraits for children in Sierra Leone.
This was possible through the idea turned organization, “The Memory Project.” Founded in 2004, the partnership creates opportunities for individuals to share artistic passions with those who are less fortunate. KCD Studio students and visual arts faculty have been creating work for this organization since 2010 with a variety of mediums and methods. This is a prime example of how students can serve those in communities around the world with skills they use everyday at KCD.

This year’s participants were: Catherine Tanner, Olivia Hall, Ashley Cho, Kinza Raza, Ava Hurwitz, Haley Schonegge, Bella Partin, Becky Gallion, and David Miller. To learn more about The Memory Project, https://www.memoryproject.org/.
