Drama in the Curriculum
The Kentucky Country Day drama curriculum begins in Middle School and provides students with a solid grounding in acting, play production, and the history and development of theater. In addition to their core drama classes, middle school students can choose from a wide variety of electives such as Dance, Storytelling, Stagecraft, and Broadcasting.
In addition to continuing their study of acting and play production, upper school students can also take classes in Directing, Film, and Film Studies.
Drama Productions
Both the Middle and Upper School stage one musical and one other production each year. Shows are staged most often in the 430-seat
KCD Theater, although the Upper School has also held productions in the Scinta Black Box Theater, a flexible and intimate performance space.
