Update from the KCD Head of School Search Committee Co-Chairs
Dear Bearcat Community,
As the search for our Interim Head of School continues, we want to update you on the progress that has been made and ask for your input as we begin the search for the Permanent Head of School.
Our consultants from The Education Group (TEG) have reported strong interest in the Interim Head position. They have published the opening broadly and have been in contact with over 30 prospective candidates. Our consultants are now in the process of interviewing the strongest candidates and obtaining feedback from their references. In the weeks ahead, TEG will present their top candidates to the search committee, from which the committee will select its top choices. These semifinalists will be interviewed by the search committee via Zoom.
From there, we intend to bring the finalists for the Interim Head position to campus for one-day visits, which are expected to occur within one month following the interviews. Parents and faculty will have an opportunity to meet the finalists and provide feedback to the search committee, which will then present one candidate to the Board for its approval. The start date for the Interim Head is July 1, 2024.
Concurrent with the Interim Head search process, TEG is working with us to launch the search for our Permanent Head of School. The search committee has met with TEG to outline the priorities in selecting candidates and has surveyed the Trustees regarding their priorities and qualities for the next Permanent Head of School. Your input is now welcomed via a survey that will help our consultants delineate your priorities as well. Please access the survey at the link below and provide your thoughtful input which should take less than 15 minutes of your time to respond. We ask for you to complete the survey by April 19. (Note: The survey link was sent to all current KCD parents, faculty, and upper school students.)
Additionally, on April 22 and 23, Marci McLean, Jay Philpott, and Dave Davies from TEG will be visiting with the KCD community. Faculty and students will have designated opportunities to meet with the consultants during the school day. KCD parents are welcome to meet with TEG on Monday, April 22 in the KCD Theater. Two parent sessions will be available; a morning meeting will be held from 8:15 to 9:00 am and an afternoon meeting will take place from 2:00 to 2:45 pm. In addition to the survey, these meetings provide a second opportunity for community members to express their goals and expectations for the search process. For additional information and updates, please visit our “Head of School Search” tab on the KCD website, linked here.
